By nature, the world of antivirus protection changes every day. To protect yourself, always back up your data, run the latest version of your antivirus software, and set your antivirus software to regularly scan your computer and check for updates.
About Antivirus Clients
Vanderbilt licenses Microsoft System Center EndPoint Protection (SCEP) as the preferred virus-scanning product for Vanderbilt-owned computers through its Microsoft Campus Agreement. SCEP offers deployment and management tools, and the software supports Windows, Mac and Linux devices.
Vanderbilt also licenses McAfee VirusScan for Mac for use on Vanderbilt- and student-owned Macs. Vanderbilt's McAfee subscription expires at the end of 2015. Departments should plan to use SCEP after December 2015. Starting Jan. 2016, Vanderbilt does not offer an antivirus solution for student-owned computers, but VUIT recommends that students use a product that receives high marks from independent test labs.
