Configuring Android Devices

Email Administrative Access

You will be prompted to grant the email server administrative access to your phone. This approval will permit the server to wipe your device remotely in case it is lost or stolen. No device will be wiped by the administrators without the owner’s permission.

Android 2.3 Email Setup Instructions
  1. Select Settings
  2. Select Accounts & Sync
  3. Select Exchange ActiveSync
  4. Enter your email address your.emailaddress@vanderbilt.edu.
    If you have a vanity address you may have to use your original Vanderbilt email address which is typically vunetid@vanderbilt.edu.
  5. Select MANUAL setup
    • Email Address:  your.emailaddress@vanderbilt.edu
      Server Address: email.vanderbilt.edu
      -- Select “This server requires an encrypted (SSL) connection”
      Domain: Vanderbilt
      User name: VUnetID
      Password: ePassword
  6. Select Next
  7. Select what you would like to sync: mail, contacts, calendar, and sync frequency.
  8. Give your account a name and select Finish.
Android 4.0 to 6.1 Email Setup Instructions
  1. Select Settings
  2. Under Accounts select Add Account
  3. Select Corporate or Exchange
  4. Enter your email address your.emailaddress@vanderbilt.edu.
  5. When prompted for your server details enter:
    • Email Address:  your.emailaddress@vanderbilt.edu
      Server Address: email.vanderbilt.edu
      -- Select “Use secure connection (SSL)”
      Domain: Vanderbilt
      User name: VUnetID
      Password: ePassword
    • If you are prompted for a port number, enter 443.
  6. Select Next
  7. Select what you would like to sync: mail, contacts, calendar, and sync frequency.
  8. Give your account a name and select Finish.
