Wireless Guest Access

Guest and patients can easily set up their wireless devices to access the Internet and any public VUMC resources by connecting to the wireless network (SSID) named vummiv.  

On May 1, a new network called VUMCGuest will be available. For more information, view the flyer.

Connecting to vummiv on Windows Machines

  1. Right click on the Wireless icon located in the bottom right hand corner of the taskbar
  2. Click, “Open Network and Sharing Center
  3. Click, “Setup a new connection or network
  4. Click, “Manually connect to a wireless network
  5. Click "Next"
  6. On the Manually connect to a wireless network page enter the following information
    • Network Name: "vummiv"
    • Security Type "No authentication (Open)"
    • Encryption Type leave as "None"
    • Check the box next to “Start this connection automatically
    • Check the box next to Connect even if the network is not broadcasting
  7. Click "Next"
  8. Close the connection wizard, if you are in range of the vummiv signal your system will connect
  9. Open your web browser (Windows Internet Explorer)
  10. Type in a website that you do not normally visit or have cached/saved in your browser (,, etc.)
  11. You should be redirected to the VUMC Wireless Page.  Read and click the Checkbox that you agree to the terms of policy.
  12. You will then be connected to the Internet and presented with the VUMC website.
