Tech Hub offers three locations for walk-up support
The Tech Hub specializes in offering desktop support and solving other IT issues for students, faculty and staff. There are three locations on Vanderbilt's campus: Hill Center, Central Library and a mobile unit at Rand/Sarratt.
In January 2015, Vanderbilt IT Network Services, in conjunction with the help desk and the Office of Housing and Residential Education (OHARE), staffed three Tech Hub outreach nights for the residential community.
These events were in response to student complaints about poor wireless performance. VUIT and OHARE visited several of the large residential areas to provide onsite help with configuring and troubleshooting student devices, as well as to look for potential sources of wireless interference, such as wireless printers and rogue wireless access points.
During this outreach, VUIT educated students about which devices interfere with VUnet and learned more about the wireless issues students are experiencing with an eye toward improving future designs and communications.
