Blackboard to be replaced by Brightspace

VUIT collaborated with members of the Center for Teaching, Procurement, and Academic Affairs Process and Solution Implementations to negotiate and sign a new 3.5 year agreement for Brightspace, which will replace Blackboard as Vanderbilt's course management system.

Vanderbilt's contract with Blackboard expires at the end of July 2017. Thus, beginning with Maymester 2017 courses, all future courses will live exclusively on Brightspace. The Center for Teaching will work throughout the spring semester to transfer existing courses to the new system.

Training will be available throughout the spring. The cost savings will total more than $200,000 per year, thanks to Vanderbilt's membership with Internet2.
