VUIT works with Office of Risk and Insurance Management to launch Protection of Minors project

VUMore than 100,000 minors per year are involved in Vanderbilt University programs, not including patients seen at the Vanderbilt Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital. In order to effectively protect all participants, Vanderbilt IT and the Office of Risk and Insurance Management collaborated on the Protection of Minors project to build a way for the PoM Office to store records of all employees interacting with minors in a centralized location. The system identifies individuals representing Vanderbilt in these programs and confirms that each has up-to-date background checks, has received proper training, and has documented acknowledgment that he/she will comply with all VU PoM policies and procedures.

The Protection of Minors project went live with a soft launch the week of Oct. 20, 2014. VUIT continues to monitor the system and addresses any issues that arise in the production environment.
