Transition Management Office looks back at a successful 2017

TMO

During 2017, the Transition Management Office (TMO) projects have made consistent progress. Most recently, the Data Center Realignment team celebrated achieving a major milestone of moving 50 percent of VU applications to Hill Data Center. Vice Chancellor John Lutz spoke to the team, encouraging members to keep up the hard work.

Other 2017 TMO key highlights include:

  • Launching FireScope, xMatters, and new VU Change and Configuration Management processes
  • Implementing VUMCGuest, the new guest Wi-Fi network for the Medical Center
  • Moving more than 100 applications from the Vanderbilt University Hospital Data Center to the Hill Data Center
  • Defining the new strategy for VU Directory Services, completing all new VU directory builds, and helping to create a fully functional disaster recovery at TierPoint

Looking forward to 2018, the team already has key milestones planned:

  • Migrating VUMC email to the new vumc.org domain
  • Building out a new VUMC Skype environment and migrating users
  • Separating the firewall management infrastructure
  • Beginning VU Directory Services migrations
  • Completing building realignment and wireless separation

In the meantime, the TMO continues to guide the project teams and to track and report on project statuses. More information is available on the TMO website.
