Writing Studio moved to new scheduling software

The Writing Studio had been using a homegrown scheduling application on a www4 site for years, and this type of site has been the center of some security vulnerability concerns. During the summer of 2016, the Writing Studio decided to transition to WCOnline, a third-party platform specifically designed for writing centers.

Thanks to input from the VUIT Application Development, VUIT Project Management Office, VUIT Relationship Management teams, and Academic Affairs Process and Solution Implementations (formerly Enrollment Management Operations Support), the Writing Studio was able to successfully move to WCOnline within the short timeframe of eight weeks. Single Sign-On for students is already up and running for WCOnline, and a student enrollments integration piece is scheduled for development later this summer.

As a result of these efforts, the Writing Studio's previous scheduling application will be decommissioned, avoiding future vulnerabilities.
