Tabletop Discussion Questions
This year’s summit is built around the idea of Radical Collaboration, because the challenges facing higher education IT do not stop at institutional boundaries, and neither should our thinking.

Woven throughout our two days together are three tabletop discussions designed to get your tables working through the hard questions: the ones without clean answers, where the real value comes from hearing how your peers across the SEC are navigating the same terrain.

We are looking forward to working through these as a group!

Come ready to work through these with your table:

“When a faculty member or researcher builds or adopts an AI tool outside of IT governance, where does the institutional risk lie? At the faculty/Department/College/central IT/OVPR/or Institutional level? Who owns the risk, the remediation, and the conversation?”

“As the pace of change accelerates, from AI adoption to evolving threats, how is your institution approaching enterprise risk management? Who owns decisions about risk tolerance and resource allocation, and how do your research, cyber, and systems teams align, or not align, when it comes to owning the action?”

“When a federal grant ends, the data, the infrastructure, and the security obligations do not. Who at your institution owns the cost and compliance of sustaining research data and systems beyond the grant period, and how is that decision being made?”
