VUIT Cloud Services builds continuous delivery and automation process for Public Affairs

In late 2016, VUIT Open Systems Applications and Cloud Services completed a project supporting fast production code changes to websites managed by Public Affairs. The system, called Kamaji, was developed by VUIT Hosting Services' Jacob Margason in cooperation with the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Solutions Architecture team using the native AWS services of S3, Lambda, SSM, and DynamoDB.

Kamaji, named after a character from a Miyazaki film, leverages auto-scaling and supports changing more than 1,000 files at will on any production web server without logging in to the server directly. This system costs less than $100 per month and has significantly improved security for VUIT and operational efficiency for Public Affairs. Cloud Services looks forward to improving and creating other systems to better serve customers.
