Domain Name Services (DNS) is an internet service that translates meaningful alphabetic
names such as www.vanderbilt.edu into numeric IP addresses which are given to computers, services or any
resource participating in the Internet. Without DNS, it would be practically impossible to maneuver the intranet or internet. This service is available to Vanderbilt University faculty, staff, and students.
