Feature Programming

Network engineering offers custom programming features for all Vanderbilt voice network users. These features enhance the usability and access of your office communications. Normal labor charges apply for customized feature programming. Below you will find a brief definition of each service offered.

  • Call Pick-Up: The call pick-up feature allows groups of telephones to be designated as or assigned to call pick-up groups. The members of the pick-up group can answer any calls made to any set within the call pick-up group. Call pick-up is used by pressing the pick-up button on the D-Term phone, or by pressing #8 on a single-line phone.
  • Hunt Groups: A hunt group is utilized to establish rollover preferences for a number or group of numbers. A hunt group refers to a group of phone lines such that when you dial the first number, the switch connects you to the first line available within the hunt group. This feature can allow for rotation of calls within an office or department.
  • Forwarded Virtual: A forwarded virtual is a number that is programmed in the telephone switch, but all calls to that number are forwarded to another extension. There is no physical phone assigned to a forward virtual number. An example of how this feature is used is when a office or department has changed their number but still want to receive calls on their old number. This feature can be used for a limited period of time or indefinitely. There is a $10 monthly fee for each forward virtual number within the Vanderbilt network. To forward to a number off-network, the charge is $21.00 per month.
