Requesting Activation and/or Installation of Network Data Ports
University departments can request activation of any existing data port on the Vanderbilt network.  In the event that the desired location does not have a port available for activation, a separate request can be made to have a cable and port installed.

Data Port Activation (cable/outlet already installed):  To request data port activations of existing ports, and/or to request a specialized network configuration for an already active port (card access reader, classroom technology, research networks, etc), please use the following request form:

Activate Network Ports

New Cable/Outlet Installation (no cable and outlet currently available):  To request the installation of a network data port or other cables in a location that a cable/outlet does not currently exist, please use the following request form.  When possible, data ports will be activated at the time the new cable is installed:

Wireless Network
Most devices should use vuNet which requires logging in with their vuNetID and ePassword. There is a special onboarding process to configure your device to work on vuNet. Please visit the VUIT Wireless Website for instructions.

Game consoles and video streaming devices (AppleTV & Roku) should use vummiv (this network is hidden and you will have to setup your device by manually entering this network name). Google Chromecast devices will not work on our wireless networks.

If you have a wireless printer, you will need to use vuDevice. You must enter a Help Desk Request for vuDevice Access and register your wireless MAC address. See the VUIT Wireless Website for details or contact the Help Desk.
